The specificity of the teaching work carried out in the literacy stage is understood as the social praxis of the literacy teacher, an intentional and planned process, in which the learning of writing and reading support the movement of transformation of the existing reality. When we understand work as an ontological category of the social being, we understand that it is through the work carried out in the school environment that the teacher exercises his social function, teaching. In this perspective, when we observe the meanings of working in literacy, we seek to understand how the particularities of work in this school stage are perceived by teachers. Therefore, this work has the general purpose of understanding the meanings of the teachers’ work who work in groups of the Initial Literacy Block (BIA) in Federal District. To achieve this objective, we outlined some specific objectives: i) to identify what Brazilian’s research says about the work of teachers in/with literacy in the period from 2010 to 2021; ii) recognize senses and meanings of teachers who work in BIA classes in Federal District about the work they do; iii) to analyze the senses and meanings about the teaching work produced by the teachers who work in BIA classes in Federal District context. We opted for a qualitative research based on the perspective of Dialectical Historical Materialism and on the cultural historical perspective. The semi-structured interview will be used as a research instrument for data production and as a methodological procedure of analysis the meaning cores.
