PAGES: 55
BIG AREA: Ciências Humanas
AREA: Educação
SUMMARY:

The purpose of this research is to analyze the fruitful relationship between the Extension developed by public higher education institutions (IPES) and education for gender equality and combating violence against women. Understanding the transformative role that Extension can and should play, and supported by the objectives established by the National University Extension Policy, the aim here is to analyze extension actions that take on the role of popular extension, as proposed by Paulo Freire (1983), and propose educational actions to elucidate women's rights, reproductive rights and combating violence against women, more specifically those developed by the Popular Legal Promoters (PLPs). Based on Historical- Dialectical Materialism, Popular Education and Intersectional Feminism, the aim is also to carry out a critical analysis, using qualitative methodologies, of university extension policies in Brazil, reflecting on how Gender, Race and Class issues are presented and whether or not they guide them. The qualitative research will be carried out through interviews as well as participant observation of PLP Training Course Extension Projects and Actions, developed at eight public educational institutions (UnB, IFG, UFG, UFRJ, UFBA, UFPR, IFSP, USP), committed to education for gender equality, combating gender violence and training citizenship multipliers. It also involves bibliographical and documentary research related to the discussion on Gender and Feminism; Extension and Popular Education. The research is justified in a context in which the living conditions of women in Brazil have historically been traversed by various forms of oppression, seeking to contribute to Extension being part of the solution to the country's major social problems, as guided by its national policy
