“THE CONVERGENCE OF STUDENTS AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN HYBRID WRITTEN TEXTS: PERSPECTIVES OF 8TH AND 9TH GRADE TEACHERS IN A MUNICIPAL PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM”
Artificial Intelligence. Hybrid text. Teacher. ChatGPT.
The research aims to critically analyze perspectives of teachers in the 8th and 9th year of elementary school in a municipal public network in the face of the reality of convergence between students and artificial intelligence (AI) in hybrid written texts. The study addresses assumptions of education and communication from a critical perspective (Freire, 1987, 1996, 2013, 2018), the concepts of prospective thinking (Moritz; Pereira, 2005; António Junior; Oliveira; Kilimnik, 2010) and hybrid text (Lopes ; Forgas; Cerdà-Navarro, 2024). This is an exploratory and descriptive research with a qualitative approach, whose methodological procedures used were content analysis by Bardin (1977) and data triangulation by Triviños (1987). Six semi-structured interviews were carried out with teachers from two schools in the city of Novo Gama, Goiás, and the analysis of the data generated was structured into two thematic axes: 1st axis – teachers: resistance, categorical acceptance and conditionalities for the use of AI in writing texts hybrid texts by students in the 8th and 9th years of elementary school and 2nd axis - measures to mitigate the negative effects on the production of hybrid texts by AI and students. Among the preliminary results of the research, some limitations in teachers' knowledge about the use of ChatGPT in the context of hybrid written texts for educational purposes stand out, but teachers are open to using the tool in classroom activity. Participants understand that the use of AI tools brings benefits to teachers and students when it is directed to tasks that will facilitate the optimization of research time and the planning of classroom activities. However, it requires a careful look at the risks and new possibilities in innovative educational practices. The results also highlighted the need for more advanced studies related to this topic, given the existing gaps and limitations caused by the scarcity of materials in the field of investigation. In summary, it is recommended to open horizons for the construction of knowledge, allowing the problematization of the reality of new technologies, which emerge as a challenge for education.
