Local communities and extension activities in the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Brasilia: dialogue of knowledge in practice?
Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Brasilia - IFB; extension; interculturality; dialogues of knowledge; local communities
This research aims to analyze how much and by what means the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Brasilia - IFB constitutes a space of recognition, positive visibility and valorization of local knowledge. I assume that the extension constitutes a potential space of meeting and dialogue between academic and local knowledge, which gains importance in the political and pedagogical conception of the Federal Institutes. The proposal is based on a decolonial perspective, using both decolonial authors and those who I understand as decolonial. The understanding of border territories and the intercultural perspective are initial interpretative keys. The following question guides the research: how the extension actions of IFB are constituted as spaces of dialogue of knowledge and to what extent they provide recognition, positive visibility and valorization of local communities' knowledge? The study will be developed in three campuses in regions of greater vulnerability, with a history of resistance and where extension actions are identified with greater propensity to be spaces of recognition and visibility of non-academic knowledge, focusing on the people proposing, carrying out and participating in these actions. Methodologically, this is a collaborative research, seeking to ensure the active participation of the various actors. Documentary analysis, interviews, conversations, audiovisual records, field diary and participant observation (aiming at "observant participation") will be mobilized, in hope of perceiving challenges, opportunities and advances of the dialogue of knowledge in the practice of the meeting of local communities and campi of the IFB in the space of the extension.
