THE REPRESENTATION OF WOMEN IN THE CARE FOR STUDENTS WITH HIGH ABILITIES/ GIFTEDNESS: A STUDY ON THE CEILÂNDIA HUB
Gender; Woman; Education; High Abilities; Inclusion
This project is linked to the Comparative Studies in Education (ECOE) research line and to the Generations and Youth Research Group (GERAJU) of the Postgraduate Program in Education at the University of Brasilia (UnB) and its general objective is to verify whether there is gender inequality in the identification process of students with characteristics of High Abilities/Super ability (AH/SD) in the Specialized Education Service of SEEDF in Ceilândia and the reasons that justify this phenomenon. The specific objectives are: a) to map the enrollment of students with AS at the national and DF levels; b) to evidence the proportion of boys and girls with characteristics of overgiftedness in elementary school; c) to verify the reasons that justify the reproduction of gender inequalities in the process of identification of students with high abilities in the Specialized Educational Attendance in Ceilândia-DF. Despite being a pioneer, the education for the highly gifted in the Federal District still faces several barriers and the public policies that provide support for care, specific to meet this type of need, are not understood as a priority. There are still myths, prejudices and misconceptions that hinder the identification and referral to the proper care. Although the phenomenon of overgiftedness can manifest itself in both genders, research shows that the number of men identified with ASD is significantly higher than that of women. For this study, the proposed methodology will be quantitative and qualitative in nature, with analysis of census data and analysis of documents (referral forms).
