Mathematics; Pisa; Teacher training; Students; Federal District
The overall objective of this thesis project is to analyze the perceptions of teachers and students in the Federal District's public school system regarding the challenges and possibilities in initial and continuing education, with a focus on mathematics knowledge in the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA). We propose to answer the following questions: Is it possible to conceive of initial and continuing education that improves the knowledge and skills of students and teachers in basic education in the Federal District's public school system in the context of PISA in the field of mathematics? Does the development of educational practices with students and teachers in basic education in the Federal District's public school system contribute to the development of PISA results in the area of mathematics? This work will be structured in a multipaper format, a collection of scientific articles, namely papers, which are linked independently in order to respond to the general objective of the research. There will be four papers corresponding to the specific objectives: the first paper will aim to understand the extent to which scientific and academic productions discuss and contribute to studies on the theme of Pisa in mathematics knowledge; the second paper will analyze the results of the Pisa mathematics area between 2006 and 2015 in different Brazilian regions, identifying patterns and establishing relationships; the third paper will evaluate the progress of students from Brasília in Pisa mathematics, comparing the results obtained in the 2006-2015 editions; Finally, the fourth paper aims to promote training for public school mathematics teachers, focusing on the Pisa theme, with the objective of gathering their conceptions, in addition to improving pedagogical practices and teaching strategies, with a view to improving student performance in the assessment results. As for the methodology, the thesis project will be a qualitative research study. The first paper will conduct a systematic review of the literature through bibliographic research, using documentary analysis as a technique. The second paper will review theoretical and documentary literature, using bibliographic and documentary research as a technique. Consequently, the third paper will investigate theoretical and documentary literature, using bibliographic and documentary research techniques. Finally, the last paper will conduct descriptive research, adopting field research, action research, and participant observation as procedures, using documentary analysis and discourse analysis, tabulation of interviews, and analysis of sociodemographic data as data collection techniques.
