SUMMARY:

This research proposal focuses on the sociological analysis of the perceptions of children diagnosed with ADHD - Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder regarding their socialization process in the school environment, through their narratives and drawings produced by them. The research will be carried out with boys and girls, aged between 6 and 10 years old. We therefore chose children enrolled in the initial years of Regular Elementary School I, from a rural school and an urban school in the Federal District, which have contrasting indices in the IDEB indicators - Basic Education Development Index, from the year 2019We start from the understanding that children create for themselves a network of relationships that is not only given, but is socially constructed by them. This research is guided by the recognition of the child as an active, full and active social subject, by the importance of open space to listen to their voices and value carrying out research with children and not about children; because "they have an active role not only in the constitution of social ties and relationships but also in the elaboration of an image, an identity, for themselves and for others". COHN (2005, p. 32). We therefore prioritize the narratives and speeches of these social subjects over the socialization processes experienced by them in the school space. I propose to develop qualitative work, based on theoretical-methodological studies of Childhood Sociology and Child Anthropology, which aims to describe the senses and meanings that children attribute to ADHD, the physical and emotional implications, the memory of what has been experienced, the uniqueness of situations, the dynamics of their social interactions with their peers, family, teachers and the wider school community, their medicalization process, their school performance and, above all, what this reveals about the dialectical relationship between children and the environment society in which they are inserted. The methodological orientation of our research is qualitative, with an ethnographic basis, as it provides the researcher with a combination of investigative techniques that take into account the relational and interactional aspects of the actors involved. We chose narrative interviews - collected from an empathetic listening process with children (KAUFMANN, 2013) and children's drawings produced by the children investigated, as they are methods capable of revealing that individual experience is a rich source for understanding the social. We believe that both narratives and drawings express, at the same time, singularities, subjectivities and social marks - elements that are intrinsically related.
