SUMMARY:

Resumo em inglês: This project aims to study the process of displacement of war victims in the Cabo Delgado Province, in Mozambique, which began in 2017. The study analyzes the path from its districts, which I call territories of origin, to the accommodation center, in principle temporary, in the District of Nicoadala, Administrative Post of Licuar – Zambezia Province -, here called the territory of waiting. I seek to know the strategies that displaced people use to build territories in the Mutchassane accommodation center, Licuar Administrative Post, Nicoadala District, Zambezia Province. The research has a qualitative approach, based on techniques such as semi-structured interviews, participant observation; As a way of perceiving the territorialities practiced by the displaced, the use of social cartography will be useful, since it will allow the representation of the point of view of the displaced in relation to the territory. The use of concepts such as territory, deterritorialization, reterritorialization, territories of waiting and return will be essential to analyze the process of displacement. In a preliminary analysis of the data, it was possible to perceive that, on the one hand, the process of displacement is more than movement, it is a struggle for a new territory, for a new life, for stability. It is, therefore, the beginning of a process of search for a new space for reterritorialization, which would be characterized by the entire process of displacement that would culminate with the arrival at the accommodation center in Licuar. But this search for a territory does not happen automatically, the displacements happen at the expense of struggles, clashes, losses and changes, sometimes profound, in the lives of the displaced. On the other hand, in the reception centre, the construction of the territory is carried out in a context in which, the longer time drags on, in the expectation of a return, unexpected situations arise, which need a solution and are solved according to the available and possible resources and means. It is in this context that the territory is built, therefore, in a process of continuous territorialization and, at the same time, territorialities are practiced, which are based on the economic dimension of the territory.
