SUMMARY:

This paper aims to analyze the relationship between transitional justice and the citizenship of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, intersex, and asexual (LGBTQIA+) people in Brazil. It starts with the following question: from the perspective of transitional justice “from the bottom up”, to what extent does the Brazilian experience make it possible to understand transitional justice for LGBTQIA+ people? The main hypothesis is that the failure of traditional transitional justice to recognize as victims people persecuted for their dissident sexuality(ies) directly harmed the democratic consolidation of fundamental rights for the LGBTQIA+ population. The general objective is to understand, based on the transitional justice policy of the Brazilian experience, the potentials and challenges for transitional justice for LGBTQIA+ people, to contribute to overcoming subalternity and guaranteeing fundamental rights and freedoms to this segment. Methodologically, this is an explanatory research, with a bibliographic and documentary approach, and of a qualitative nature.
