gender, women, BRICS, fundamental rights
The strategic partnership of BRICS, consisting of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, stands out on the global stage due to its prominence in population and economic aspects. These countries aim to foster political, economic, financial, and cultural collaborations. However, empirical evidence indicates significant challenges regarding gender equality. This research seeks to address gender inequality within BRICS, employing a comparative constitutional law approach to develop new interpretative avenues through constitutional dialogues among constitutional courts. Therefore, the research has an empirical nature, utilizing both quantitative and qualitative methods, with a small-N investigative technique. The study encompasses theoretical assumptions, including an understanding of gender in constitutions, as well as empirical foundations, featuring indicators of gender inequality in the countries under examination. The methodology includes a detailed exploration of data on women's fundamental rights within the constitutional review processes of each BRICS member country.
