SUMMARY:

For the present work, the following research problem was formulated: "How did the intersectionalities of life such as gender, race and class precarize the lives of women and may have influenced maternal mortality in Acre?”. As a general objective, it intends to analyze how the intersectionalities of precariousness of life in the COVID-19 pandemic impacted maternal mortality in the state of Acre. The first stage of the study will be descriptive, quantitative in nature, with data provided by the State Secretariat of health of Acre and the Municipal Secretariat of 2 health of Rio Branco. The intention is to establish the magnitude of these deaths, revealing the causes of death in the pre-pandemic period and during the pandemic, through the mortality Information System (SIM). The second stage of the research will be to identify cases of pregnant and postpartum women who lived in Rio Branco and who died as a result of COVID-19. Death certificates, investigation files, medical records and data related to prenatal care will be studied. The next stage involves inviting at least one person with affective ties to the woman for an interview. The combination of different forms of data collection and the possibility of listening to narratives, perspectives and different points of view expands the possibilities of analysis, in an exercise and position of “feminist Scout”. The analysis procedures of this work will follow the theory based on the data of Strauss and Corbin (2008). This research aims to help reveal the possible effects of the covid-19 pandemic on maternal mortality in the state. The development of research in the state of Acre can explain important local aspects to be considered in decision-making and adoption of measures to prevent maternal deaths. The strengthening of the health policy directed to this population is also a potential benefit of carrying out the work. This research is based on a reflection in the field of human rights from the perspective of gender and race, understanding that maternal death represents the course of a series of violations of various human rights, mainly because it is avoidable in most cases.
