This study focuses on the nomination process of justices for the Brazilian Supreme Federal Court (STF). Using an empirical, qualitative approach, it aims to conduct a content analysis of public confirmation hearings to understand the role of senators in the evaluation of Supreme Court nominations between 2015 and 2023. The research seeks to answer whether it can be said that the Senate has moved beyond its traditional rubber-stamp function during these hearings. The anticipated findings aim to present a new perspective on public hearings, challenging earlier theories of senatorial complacency.
