THE QUESTION OF ACRE: THE CREATION OF THE FEDERAL TERRITORY AND THE STRENGTHENING OF UNION POWER IN THE FIRST BRAZILIAN REPUBLIC (1891-1904)
Federal Territory of Acre; Federation; First Republic.
This project investigates the creation of the Federal Territory of Acre and its impact on federalism during the First Brazilian Republic, between 1891 and 1904, examining the legal, political, and social context that led to its institution. The research aims to explore how the creation of the territory was part of a larger and complex federal conflict that persisted from the transformation of the empire into a republic, thereby allowing for a broader understanding of Brazilian federalism at the time.
