SUMMARY:

The research question presented is: What are the best ESG practices that influence the level of financial literacy of university students? The proposal hypothesizes that the “ESG Standard influences the degree of financial literacy of university students.” This hypothesis will be tested on a sample of undergraduate students from UnB, from all major areas of knowledge categorized by CNPq. The independent variable “ESG Standard” will be approximated by some of the 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) established by the United Nations. The dependent variable “financial literacy” will be measured by indicators associated with three constructs – financial knowledge, financial attitude and financial behavior –, supported in the literature. Financial knowledge will be assessed by students' understanding of some financial concepts, with an emphasis on compound interest, real rate of return and risk management. The measurement of the other two constructs will replicate methodologies developed in other academic works. Data collection will be done through multiple choice tests covering the contents of the dependent and independent variables, and in a questionnaire, applied to the students in the sample.
