Enunciating from a black place, the present research will present the translation of a chapter selected from the novel Humus (2006), by the writer, journalist, filmmaker, and playwright Fabienne Kanor. The author's work, still without translation into Portuguese, is little read and studied in French language undergraduate courses. In view of this situation, this dissertation also intends, through translation, to present the novelist and her novel. We start from the understanding that the process of translating, especially a corpus of black literary texts, black thought, essayistic texts "demand more than rhetorical eloquence and/or technical acuity. We opted to be guided by this notion, by the writer and essayist Conceição Evaristo, because we understood that no other would be adequate to the problems pertinent to our translation. The reflections of Carrascosa (2017), Édouard Glissant (2021), Paul Gilroy (2001), Souza (2018), Souza (2017), Silva-Reis; Araujo 2017), Vanessa Massoni (2020) were fundamental to add discussions to our translation. Furthermore, we started from a Black, decolonial and antiracist Epistemology and methodology for the translation of Black-authored texts. Finally, we can conclude that from this procedure and episteme, we claim the place of enunciation of literary works of Black literature writers of expression and this reverberates in African-American writing.
