A LEGAL TRANSLATION PROJECT ON BLACK FEMINISM: JUDICIAL REWRITING IN TRANSLATION
rewritten legal decisions from a feminist perspective; black feminism; legal translation; Translation Studies; annotated translation.
This study is dedicated to producing an annotated legal translation of judicial rewritings from a feminist perspective. To this end, the cases Loving v. Virginia (1967) and Meritor Savings Bank v. Vinson (1986) were selected. The objective of this research is to produce an annotated translation from a Black and feminist perspective that can contribute to the discussion of judicial rewritings within Translation Studies. As a methodological approach, we adopted translation functionalism, annotated translation, and the development of an annotation typology. Thus, the study integrates social markers such as race and gender alongside the translations. The aim is to enable readers to engage in a broader discussion of topics related to: Black feminism, Feminist Legal Theory, legal translation, and feminist translation. It is thus concluded that this approach is relevant to the research, as it aims to broaden the discussion of judicial rewrites within the field of Translation Studies.
