What Does PGPMBio Really Deliver to the Environment? A Counterfactual Assessment of Economic and Environmental Effects with Differences in Differences

This thesis proposes to evaluate the impacts of PGPMBio on economic and environmental variables through counterfactual models, with emphasis on the Difference-in-Differences (DID) method. The focus is on measuring the effects of the policy on income, deforestation, land use and local productive structure, comparing municipalities treated with similar control groups over time. Does PGPMBio have the capacity to influence socioeconomic and environmental variables in the territories where it is applied? Are its effects positive and statistically significant? Are there heterogeneous impacts by biome, degree of social organization, or presence of infrastructure?
